"Soufflé"
means "puffed up" in French. Technically it refers to an
entree or dessert made with a white sauce & other
ingredients, which are puffed up by or in cooking (ie:
omelet).
The straight high sides help make it
easier for a soufflé to rise. On frozen soufflés, you can
increase the height of the dish by wrapping parchment
paper around the outside, removing it after the soufflé
has set.
These very versatile and useful dishes
however, have many uses in addition to baked or
cold/frozen soufflés. All are freezer, dishwasher,
micro-wave and oven safe. Made of porcelain, they are lead
and cadmium free, thermal and shock resistant, and stain
proof.
Very durable, they can go from freezer
to oven to table. The nonporous surface is extremely easy
to clean. They are available in a range of sizes, so you
can use them for individual servings, or larger portions.
Perfect for almost any food, or as nut and candy dishes!
